#441008 Grand Sport replica body by Wilkinson. All original chassis, and mechanical parts except for cam box. Brinniton Engineering transmission for easier shifting, plus original trans. Excellent condition, ready for touring or vintage racing. Originally fitted with a roadster body by Gangloff. Reportedly was personal car of Jean Bugatti. Interesting history of this car can be found in Pur Sang, Vol. 16, No. 4. Bought in Europe by Whittaker for $360. Car was purchased by General Motors to be displayed in the Auto-Pub Restaurant in the lower plaza of the GM building at 767 Fifth Avenue, New York City, in 1968. In the process of hanging the car from the ceiling, the far-from-empty gas tank leaked onto some electrical wires with a rather fierce fire the result. After a 20-plus year restoration odyssey with previous owner McFarling, the car was completed for Grant with replica coachwork by Wilkinson. Engine fitted is most of the original engine less top half consumed in GM fire.
